We hope you and your families are keeping well in these difficult and strange times.
Following the directive from the Department of Education & Skills, our school will close for face-to-face teaching and learning until January 31st 2021. We will however continue with online teaching & learning during this time and have the following measures in place.
We will move to a ‘remote teaching and learning timetable’ which Year Heads will explain to students at an online Year Group Assembly at 9am on Monday morning. Students should check their email for the link to these meetings. This online timetable should enable students to manage their time more effectively. In addition to these subjects, tutors, Year Heads and other subject areas may arrange activities and challenges for students.
Google Classroom will be the main platform for communication between teachers and students. Students can log into their school email address on any device in order to access their google classrooms and they should have a code for access to each classroom.. Students should send an email to their teacher if they do not have the classroom code. They may need to download the Google Classroom app if they are not using a laptop or chromebook.
Each class was given a time slot for book collection, in order to minimise the numbers of students accessing the school at any one time. If your daughter has not collected books, please contact the office on Monday morning and we can arrange a time.
Following the Assemblies on Monday morning, teachers will be meeting in subject departments. Students are asked to use the time to organise themselves and have everything ready for the start of the remote teaching and learning timetable on Tuesday morning.
If at any point over the next few weeks your daughter is unable to engage with the remote learning for any reason (e.g. illness, technology issues etc), could you please let us know at the earliest opportunity, so we can seek solutions.
Students are reminded that our schools Acceptable Use Policy and Code of Behaviour will still be in use and students are reminded to be respectful to all when using online platforms. For live /interactive lessons, students should be appropriately dressed for class and should be in a suitable location. Mics should be turned to mute and cameras can be turned off, unless with teachers permission. Students may not record lessons.
Please visit our website (Covid 19 section) for further information on Google Classroom and updates from the Department.
We understand the difficulties in continuing to learn in this manner but we have tried to make it manageable for everyone involved.
Hopefully we can return to face-to-face teaching & learning soon. In the meantime, please stay safe and well and follow the guidelines of the Dept. of Public Health.
Ms. Sandra Doyle, Ms. Elaine Sweeney,
Principal Deputy Principal
